NZREX Preparation Programme

The NZREX Preparation Programme (the Programme) is funded by Health Workforce New Zealand (HWNZ) and delivered by the Clinical Education & Training Unit (CETU) at Auckland District Health Board (ADHB).

This is an optional 12 week programme (40 hours per week) to help International Medical Graduates (IMGs), who meet the entry criteria, to pass the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) Registration Examination (NZREX). All Applicants to this Programme must still apply directly to MCNZ to be considered for the NZREX Examination.

The Programme is optional and is available only to IMGs who are already residing in New Zealand and have permanent residence but who have not yet passed the NZREX examination.

Programme Costs

No charge to the IMG.

Allowance

An IMG participating on the Programme (Part 1 & Part 2) will be provided with financial assistance of $570.00 per week – payable on a fortnightly basis by ADHB. This allowance is payable to IMGs only when they begin the programme. (No allowance will be paid during the interview period.)
